Charlotte Bobcats Seek Analytics Interns from Davidson

Drop-Ins Friday, Sept. 6, to Discuss Bobcats Basketball Analytics Internships

Friday, September 6
Drop-in Hours 10am – noon and 12:30 – 2:30
Center for Career Development Conference Room (Use main CCD entrance – 201 Union)

The NBA recently reached a deal to install SportVU cameras in every arena –  technology that will transform the analytics of basketball.  Jason Rosenfeld, Manager of Basketball Analytics for the Charlotte Bobcats, is seeking multiple interns from Davidson to operate these cameras during Bobcats home games at the Time Warner Cable Arena.  Depending on the interns’ interest and skill level, there will also likely be opportunities to work with Mr. Rosenfeld on research and data analysis.  Drop by the CCD during the above hours to talk to Mr. Rosenfeld about this opportunity – there are no set appointments.  Bring an updated hard copy of your resume if you have one available.

Students will be official Charlotte Bobcats interns and will work from mid-October to the end of April.  Hours depend on the availability and interest of the intern but will likely average at least ten hours per week. The intern will need to drive to Charlotte for the internship.  The internship is unpaid and academic credit through Explorer 099 is required.  You should review the requirements for the course, but do not need to take action until you are selected for the internship.  If you do complete the internship, it will go on your Davidson transcript for the Spring 2014 semester.

For more information, see our posting in WildcatLink.  Please also submit your resume in WildcatLink whenever it is ready so that Mr. Rosenfeld receives an electronic copy.  You do not need to have already submitted your resume in order to drop In Friday to meet him.

Please direct initial questions to Ashley Neff (asneff@davidson.edu) or Dr. Tim Chartier (ticharter@davidson.edu).  Thanks to Dr. Chartier for connecting us to this opportunity!
